BIOGRAPHY

Actively fascinated by the world of opera singing and theatre, Chloé Elasmar turned to a course of study in accompaniment at the Bordeaux Conservatoire and then at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon (Master’s degree and State Diploma). At the same time as her piano studies, she deepened her musical culture by obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in musicology at the Montaigne University of Bordeaux III.

At a very early age, she accompanied singers and actors on stage.

As a teenager, she was involved in a musical theatre production at the Festival des Nuits d’Été de Villebois-Lavalette (2006): this experience marked the beginning of a career as a vocal and choral conductor with the Compagnie de l’Arène. In this dynamic, she works in the field of operetta and musical comedy with the Compagnie Cala – Théâtre Musical de Lyon from 2017.

Actually, Chloé Elasmar accompanies numerous candidates on the stage of international opera competitions (Enesco Competition in 2019 and 2020, Symphonies d’Automne in 2016) and works as a pianist-actor in the production of concert-spectacles in the company of other musicians (Quelle Aventure! in December 2016; America in March 2019; Offenbach the feminist in July 2019; Là-Haut in August 2020).

In the field of French melodies and Lieder, Chloé Elasmar founded her own duo with the baritone Florent Karrer: the Vagabond duo. Together, they have won numerous awards: the Montperreux Festival Prize at the International Competition “Les Saisons de la Voix” in Gordes in 2015, the Grand Prix Paul Derenne – Prix de la Mélodie Française and the Francis Poulenc Prize at the Concours International d’Interprétation de la Mélodie Française in Toulouse in November 2017. The Vagabond duo also won the Grand Prix Opera at the 5th edition of the International Singing Competition “Georges Enesco” in October 2018.

An eclectic artist, Chloé Elasmar took part in the Opus XXI Academy in Germany in 2014, premiering several works by young composers within an orchestral ensemble. She took her first steps on the stage of the Lyon Auditorium in Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony under the baton of Leonard Slatkin and more recently in Gilbert Amy’s Missa cum jubilo conducted by François-Xavier Roth. Anxious to make young audiences aware of the world of theatre and opera, Chloé Elasmar is participating in the creation of a show for children: Quelle Aventure !

Chloé is also involved in charity work with the association Ouvrir les yeux: she recorded “Demain dès l’aube”, a song by Gaëtan Maire, to support research into the treatment of optic neuropathies and to help support families affected by these diseases.
